Penn-Trafford notebook: 8 Warriors named to all-conference 1st team

The Penn-Trafford football team didn’t win the Big East Conference, but the Warriors did dominate the first team all-conference team with eight players selected by conference coaches.
Selected to the first-team offense were junior center Ethan Septak, senior guard Riley McCaw, senior tight end Mark Jollie, junior running back Tasso Whipple and freshman athlete Ben Grabowski.
The first-teamers on defense were senior end Matt Sarnowski, senior tackle Zach Tomosovich and senior defensive back Carmen Metcalfe.
The Warriors had five players picked on the second team, three on offense and two on defense.
The offensive players were senior guard Vito Scarcelli, freshman wide receiver Nick Ponko and junior quarterback Jonny Lovre. On defense, senior linebackers Paul Darragh and Dom Smith were picked.
Two players were selected to the honorable mention squad. They were sophomore defensive back Tyler Boss and junior defensive back Jessie Lisbon.
3 Warriors honored
WPIAL 2A field hockey champion Penn-Trafford had three player named to the all-conference team.
Heading the list was senior midfielder and Ohio State commit Ava Hershberger, who scored more than 100 goals in her career.
Also selected were senior midfielder Mackenzie Keenan and sophomore forward Liz Welsh.
Junior forward Rilie Moors and junior defender Giuliana Youngo were named to the honorable mention list.
Lucas in all-star game
The Western Pennsylvania Soccer Coaches Association announced the rosters for its all-star game Nov. 25 at Pine-Richland. Selected for the Class 3A team from Penn-Trafford was Ben Lucas.
