It was early season weather conditions for district golfers trying to qualify for the state championships next week. The PIAA held the Western Regional Championships on Monday at Thoms Run Golf Course at Chestnut Ridge and the big story was not that 38 WPIAL qualified to move on for a shot at state gold, it was that two of the four WPIAL champions did not advance. Boys 3-A WPIAL champ Gregor Meyer of Fox Chapel and Girls 3-A champ Caroline Wrigley of North Allegheny did not make the cut, however 24 boys and 14 girls did qualify for the two day PIAA Individual Golf Championships on October 24th and 25th at the Heritage Hills Golf Resort in York.
