The Battle to the Bluff is about to begin, and the only place to follow the action of the start of the February Frenzy is here this week here on the MSA Sports Network. We start with the WPIAL Basketball Playoff Pairings Show and then follow-up with EVERY WPIAL boys and girls basketball postseason contest starting this weekend. The PIHL held it's annual high school hockey all-star games on Sunday at the Robert Morris University Island Sports Complex on Neville Island. Here are recaps from all four contests heard only here on the MSA Sports Network.Moon Wins Back-to-Back WPIAL Gymnastics Gold
For the second consecutive year and the third time in school history, the Moon Tigers are wearing WPIAL Girls Gymnastics Gold after they captured the team title in their own gym Saturday afternoon. The win for Moon is their third district crown in six years. Four in a row on the district level, now Canon-McMillan has won back-to-back state championships. The Big Macs edged Central Dauphin Saturday afternoon to win the PIAA Team Wrestling Class AAA crown. Also in Hershey, Bethlehem Catholic won their third straight Class AA championship.Meanwhile, making their first ever state playoff appearance, Franklin Regional finished third when the Panthers won the Consolation Round championship. It was a down year for top talent coming out of District 7. A year ago, 32 WPIAL football players put their John Hancock to paper and faxed their futures plans to their respective Division I-A schools. On National Letter of Intent Day 2013, only 18 players from the WPIAL took part in the annual process Wednesday morning. For the first time in AA, the WPIAL will have the opportunity to have three teams compete in the PIAA Team Tournament. The Chartiers Houston Buccaneers defeated the Jefferson Morgan Rockets Saturday 42-30 to advance to the pigtail round.
