IUP Advances to NCAA Regional Final With Win Over New Haven

West Allegheny’s Wildcat Whips West Mifflin 34-8

The West Miffln Titans and the West Allegheny Indians squared off in the night cap on Championship Friday at Heinz Field in the McDonald's/WPIAL Class AAA Championship game. In a matchup of two strong running games, the West Allegheny wildcat was most impressive in leading the Indians to a 34-8 victory over West Mifflin as the Indians captured their 6th WPIAL Class AAA Title and their second since 2009.

District College Football Preview for Saturday, November 24th
And then there was one, IUP is the only college football team in the district still alive and playing on this Thanksgiving weekend. Here is a preview of that matchup. NCAA Division II Playoffs-Second Round: IUP(11-1) at New Haven(10-0)  Noon The 11th ranked Crimson Hawks defeated Shepherd 27-17 at home last week in the first round.  IUP won the PSAC title with a win over Shippensburg 41-10 in the State Title Game two weeks ago. The win cemented a playoff bid for the Crimson Hawks, their 15th in school history.

Peters Twp, Moon and Greensburg CC Sweep PIAA Girls Soccer Crowns
November 17, 2012
History was made Saturday in more ways than one. Peters Township blanked Cumberland Valley 1-0 at Hersheypark Stadium on a Emily Franty goal to win the PIAA Class AAA championship. The Indians victory gave the WPIAL a golden sweep of the state soccer titles, a first for District 7. Antonia Grese's goal at 15:16 of the first half was all Moon needed as they shutout the Archbishop Wood Vikings 1-0 to win the PIAA Class AA championship. The title is the Tigers first girls state soccer crown in school history, this after Moon lost to Mars in the District 7 finals.

Upper St. Clair Wins 3rd PIAA Boys Soccer Championship
Despite losing in the District 7 finals, Upper St. Clair grabbed an early lead and held on Saturday to win the boys Class AAA state championship 1-0 over West Lawn Wilson. Wes Burdette served a ball to Doug Hateman who finished the play with a header and the games only goal 20 minutes in at Hersheypark Stadium. The state crown is the third for USC after winning back-to-back PIAA gold in 2004 and 2005. Meanwhile, after yielding back-to-back shutouts in PIAA Quarterfinals and semifinals victories, Sewickley Academy was blanked Friday by Mountain View in the Class A championship match. 2012 PIAA Girls Volleyball Playoff Recap – WPIAL Comes Up Empty
While the WPIAL came up empty in sending a team to the state finals for only the second time PIAA girls volleyball history, it turned out to be a golden postseason for neighboring teams from District 9 and District 10. Clarion from D-9 won the Class A state championship Saturday while Fort LeBoeuf from D-10 captured the Class AA crown. District College Football Recap for Saturday, November 17th
The NCAA playoffs kicked off in Division II and III, regular season action came to a conclusion in the NEC.Here are recaps of all the games, including one heard here on the Network:NCAA Division II Playoffs/First Round:  IUP 27 - Shepherd 17 The 11th ranked Crimson Hawks move onto the second round with the home victory at George P. Miller Stadium. De'Antwan Williams carried 30 times for 152 yards and a score as IUP moves on to the second round. IUP scored first, taking advantage of a Jihad Rasheed fumble, Greg Meisner recovered and set up the Crimson Hawks at the 28 yard line. Mike Box hit Terill Williams 5 plays later for a touchdown and a 7-0 lead.
