Peters Township and Sewickley Academy Back on Top of WPIAL Girls Team Tennis

Four great WPIAL girls team tennis programs continue to go back and forth like a good volley in winning district gold. In Class AAA, Shady Side Academy won back-to-back WPIAL titles in 2007 and 2008 before Peters Township snapped that golden streak by winning the 2009 championship.

Since the WPIAL formed Class AAAA football in 1980, only six running backs who played in Class AAAA rushed for more than 4,000 career yards.But two of them reached the milestone on the same night Friday.Mount Lebanon’s Luke Hagy and Pittsburgh Central Catholic’s Damion Jones-Moore had big games in victories Friday night and also pushed past 4,000 yards.

Shady Side Academy and Central Valley Wear the WPIAL Girls Golf Team Crowns

For one school, it was a repeat golden performance. For the other, it marks the return to title town for a third time in four years. Shady Side Academy won the WPIAL Girls Team Golf Division I championship on Thursday at the Cedarbrook Golf Club in Belle Vernon again after winning the championship in 2008 and 2009. Meanwhile, Central Valley is a perfect 2-for-2.

Upper St. Clair and Neshannock Win WPIAL Boys Team Golf Gold
Two of the most successful boy’s golf programs in WPIAL history are golden again after winning district crowns Thursday afternoon at the Cedarbrook Golf Club in Belle Vernon. Upper St. Clair won the Division I title for a record 17th time in school history, winning by four strokes over Indiana and by eight strokes over 2010 champion Peters Township.
