They didn't win a district championship this year but they are now wearing state gold. The Valley Vikings captured their first ever PIAA softball title by edging Manheim Central Friday in the Class AAA Finals at Penn State University. Two WPIAL teams have broken the state baseball title drought. After two years of nothing but silver both Riverside and Serra Catholic were golden in the PIAA finals. The Riverside Panthers got another big hit from Ryan Finnegan to claim their third PIAA title with a 5-2 win over the Salisbury Township Falconsin the Class AA title game at Medlar Field. The Seneca Valley Raiders won their first ever WPIAL Quad-A baseball title in a rout, defeating number one seed Peters Township 15-4 on Tuesday night at Consol Energy Park. The Raiders got a three run homer from Christian Durbin and a solo shot by Jack Graham. Matt Smith pitched a gem after a rough start, striking out nine in the final five innings.
