MSA Sports Top Ten – WPIAL Girls Basketball Playoff Teams 2011

After ranking the top ten teams in each classification during the regular season, the MSA Sports Network SEEDS the 2011 WPIAL girls basketball playoff field. Seeding teams is different then ranking teams because the WPIAL avoids Preliminary and First Round matchups between teams in the same section. Thus the seedings don't equate into true rankings.

Central Dauphin and Bethlehem Catholic Win 2011 PIAA Team Wrestling Championships
District 3 Central Dauphin is now celebrating a 3-peat after winning the 2011 PIAA Team Wrestling Class AAA championship in Hershey Saturday afternoon. In the Class AA finals, District 10 champion Fort LeBoeuf failed to repeat as the Bison made it to the finals before losing to Bethlehem Catholic Saturday at the GIANT Center. It was the Golden Hakws first ever state title.

CANON-McMILLAN & BURRELL IN 7th HEAVEN AS 2011 WPIAL TEAM WRESTLING CHAMPIONS
Two of the most decorated wrestling programs in the WPIAL are celebrating a record tying 7th district team championship Saturday with victories in the WPIAL Team Wrestling finals at Chartiers Valley High School. Canon-McMillan captured a second consecutive Class AAA title and the seventh championship ties them with Connellsville for the most in WPIAL AAA history.

Burrell Gets One for the Thumb in Winning a 5th Straight WPIAL AA Wrestling Title

After giving Chartiers-Houston a 6 point head start, Burrell never looked back in the 2011 WPIAL Class AA team Wrestling championship match Saturday at Chartiers Valley High School. The Bucs rattled off 6 straight victories after giving up a forfeit at 103 pounds, four of those wins by fall for as Burrell won the battle of the Bucs 54-20 for a fifth consecutive WPIAL Class AA gold crown.

Canon-McMillan Beats Latrobe for Back-to-Back AAA Wrestling Crowns While Kiski Area Qualifies for States
After winning a WPIAL championship a season ago, Canon-McMillan came into Saturday's action looking for the opportunity to repeat. And repeat they did as the Big Macs knocked off the Latrobe Wildcats at Chartiers Valley High School. They got off to a fast start, winning 4 of the first 5 matches, one by fall (freshman Alec Hutchin) to take an early 15-3 lead.
