The Parkway Conference in Class AAA and the Eastern Conference in Class A were both 4-0 in WPIAL first-round football playoff games last week. That is impressive, but not unheard of in the WPIAL. Now if either one of those conferences go 4-0 in this week's games, it will be a first.

Pine-Richland, Freeport & Frazier Capture 2010 WPIAL Girls Volleyball Championships
A pair of schools are celebrating their first ever WPIAL girls volleyball championships after victories on Saturday at Franklin Regional High School. Frazier in Class A and Freeport in Class AA claimed inaugural hardwood gold while Pine-Richland won the Class AAA crown for the third time in school history and the Rams first title since 2005.

A pair of top-seeds and a second-seed captured gold on Super Soccer Saturday. Both Seton-LaSalle in Class A and Hampton in Class AA enjoyed dominating victories while it took Peters Township two overtimes to win the Class AAA thriller, the Indians second title in three years. The district girls soccer championships are in the books with three new champions crowned on Super Soccer Saturday at both Baldwin and Elizabeth Forward High Schools. Both Peters Township in AAA and Shady Side Academy in A captured girls soccer crowns for the first time in school history, while Mars continued its perfect season by winning a second district AA championship and first since 2000.

Even Up, Seton-LaSalle Continues Trend of Even Year WPIAL Boys Soccer Runs With Win Over GCC

At Elizabeth Forward High School in Boys WPIAL A Soccer finals the Seton-LaSalle Rebels won in dominant fashion over the Greensburg Central Catholic Centurions 3-0. The win is the fourth boys soccer title for the Rebels, with their other championships coming in 2002, 2006 and 2008.

Plum’s Yurovsky is the Golden Girl, While SSA’s Perelman and QV’s Caravaggio Take Silver in 2010 PIAA Girls Singles Tennis Championships
There were plenty of medals being handed out to WPIAL tennis players Saturday at the Hershey Racquet Club. Back in September, Ronit Yurovsky of Plum beat Sara Perelman of Shady Side Academy in two sets to claim the WPIAL Girls Singles Tennis crown in Class AAA. Saturday afternoon, history repeated itself as Yurovsky beat Perelman again in the state finals.

Shady Side Academy made history at Baldwin Stadium by defeating Sewickley Academy to become the first ever WPIAL Girls Class-A champions. The 5th seeded Indians scored an early 2nd half goal and used that momentum to help them control play throughout the final 40-minutes.
