The opening round of the high school hockey playoff began with a big on a bang Monday night in the PIHL. Most of the games played went down to the wire, and in the case of one Class AAA contest, beyond the end of regulation. Eight teams showed up on the North Shore on Saturday with a job to get done. There were four WPIAL football titles up for grabs as each team had the thirst to be number one. These are the key plays that for the winners turned out to be so bold. Central Valley earned the WPIAL Class AAA title with a 24-7 upset of undefeated Montour Saturday as the sun set on Heinz Field. The Warriors defense stepped up to shut down the high-powered offense of the Spartans to bring home the gold in the district's inaugural season.
