Chicks Picks – Week 12 – 2013
November 14, 2013
Welcome to Week 12. We have reached the final stop on the Highway to Heinz.  Keeping with tradition, Chick’s Picks stopped by her favorite uptown pizza shop, as she does each football season at this time.  After placing her usual order for the college special, Chick’s Picks sat down to ponder her predictions over the delicious meal.Something caught her eye from across the way.  Sure enough, it was The Fumbler—dining over the same meal, pondering his own picks.  Chick’s Picks confronted her rival prognosticator, demanding an explanation.

Chicks Picks – Week Four – 2013
September 19, 2013
Welcome to Week 4. Chick’s Picks has a dear friend at the MSA Sports Network who loves nothing more than to spend his free time attending bizarre fitness classes.  For months, Mike Azadian has been strongly encouraging Chick’s Picks to attend a hot yoga session with him.  Nothing about this idea sounded even the slightest bit intriguing to Chick’s Picks, but after a stressful week, she decided to give it a try.Chick’s Picks was right—she found little stress relief stretching her body in ways it did not belong.  To make matters worse, her trusty crystal ball could not withstand the heat of the 105-degree studio.  This week’s picks melted out of the crystal ball, right into oblivion.

MSA Sports Big Game Hunting – Week Four
September 18, 2013
Week four brings with it the time to separate the wheat from the chaff in the WPIAL football season. You might get to this week with a pretty nice looking record based on some favorable scheduling. Time is running out on teams dodging the upper echelon of their section. Sooner or later , you are going to run into a playoff caliber football team, if it is sooner, it will be this week, if it is later it will be next. But, after Friday we will know a lot more about who will be playing in November and whose seasons will come to a grinding halt before trick-or-treat time has even arrived.

CTK 2013 – WPIAL Single-A Black Hills Conference Preview
August 22, 2013
Any discussion of the race in the Class A Black Hills must start with Clairton. The Bears come into the season on a 63-game winning streak, the longest current streak in the country and the longest in the history of Pennsylvania. Clairton lost a number of key players to graduation. So do the Bears simply reload? Do they step a back? Is this finally the year the streak ends? Questions abound about the Bears. For sure, they are good enough to win a conference title again and maybe a sixth consecutive WPIAL and fifth consecutive PIAA. Maybe Brentwood or Monessen are ready to give a serious challenge to Clairton. Remember Char-Houston gave the Bears fits on the opening night last year.

June 16, 2013
The last four years, Tyler Boyd of Clairton has concluded each football season with some gridiron magic at Hersheypark Stadium in leading the Bears to four straight state crowns. So it was only fitting he would cap off a dream scholastic career with a huge game in Chocolatetown in leading Pennsylvania to a 58-27 victory over Maryland in the annual Big 33 Classic high school football all-star game.Boyd ran back the opening kickoff 91-yards for a touchdown to get the ball rolling. he caught a pair of touchdown passes, both from North Allegheny quarterback Mack Leftwich of 16 and 5 yards, he had a scoring run from 4-yards out and just for good measure, he threw a 68-yard touchdown pass to Brian Lemelle of Bishop McDevitt.
