CTK 2011 – WPIAL 7:00pm Kickoffs

There are 126 schools in the WPIAL that field a high school football team. While a majority still begin at 7:30pm, 38 of them now kickoff their home games at 7:00pm, including the enire Class AAA Keystone Conference. Mount Lebanon and Hampton won the very first WPIAL boys lacrosse championships two years ago in 2009. After missing out last season, the gold rush continued for both the Blue Devils and Talbots in 2011. Both schools captured a second WPIAL boys lacrosse crown with tight victories Friday night at Chartiers Valley High School and here on the MSA Sports Network.Mt. For the first time in 17 years, the Mount Lebanon boys tennis team is celebrating gold. The top-seed Blue Devils edged two-time defending champion Shady Side Academy in a match started Thursday and finished Friday due to rain. Last weekend put a stamp on the end of yet another season of fantastic wrestling. The WPIAL produced 5 state champions and 48 total medallists (24 in both AA and AAA) over that time in Hershey. After being blanked on Day One on Friday, Saturday turned out to be a golden day for four WPIAL swimmers at the 2011 PIAA Class AAA Swimming and Diving championships at Bucknell University. After winning four WPIAL titles a week ago, Franklin Regional senior Nico Megaludis had one more gold medal he wanted to add to his mantel. While there will be swimming gold heading back to North Allegheny High School, the Tigers could not double their pleasure. The North Allegheny girls won their third straight WPIAL Class AAA team swimming title, but the boys string of five straight was snapped Friday afternoon at Trees Pool.
