Baldwin Freshman Wins 2011 WPIAL Boys Golf Championship

In a major surprise at the WPIAL Division I Boys Golf Championships, a freshman claimed the top spot. Zack Taylor of Baldwin was the only player to shoot under par, firing a one-under 71, beating Evan Ruhling of Penn Hills by one shot at Treesdale Golf and Country Club in Gibsonia.MSA Sports Top 10 – WPIAL Football – 10/03/2011

Quietly, the Greater Allegheny Conference in Class AAA has become a primetime postseason player...at least in the First Round. A year ago, the four playoff teams (Mars, Knoch, Indiana and Highlands) in the GAC were a combined 3-1, giving the conference a 6-2 record in the opening round of the WPIAL playoffs the past two years.CTK 2011 – WPIAL Class AAA Players to Watch

They are few and far between, but we have seen teams pull off perfect football seasons before in the WPIAL. However the new kids on the block in Class AAA went for perfection in a different way that has never been done before. One Season - One Championship. After the 2009 school year, Center High School and Monaca High School merged to form a new school district.
