It is hard to win a championship in any sport. It is VERY hard to win a title with an undefeated record. In 2011, a pair of girls soccer teams did just that as Class AA Mars (with one tie) and Class A Greensburg Central Catholic (no ties) winning district gold without tasting defeat. While we wake up to a white out (What the…?), it was a knock out delivered by these football players from the final Friday of the regular season. Whether their team was chasing down a conference championship or trying to wrap up a playoff spot, these players below came up large. Welcome to Week 9 of the high school football season. Friends of Chick’s Picks held the first annual Pumpkin Carve-nival this week to get in the Halloween spirit. The Pumpkin Carve-nival, as it had been dubbed, was not your average pumpkin-carving party. This is it, week nine and we will wrap up a fabulous 2011 WPIAL football regular season this weekend and pack our bags to get on the Highway to Heinz next Friday night. BGH salutes all the players, fans, and coaches from the 2011 season whether they will be on the “Highway” next week or not.
