The Herald spotlight athlete: Fox Chapel’s Avery Bursick

Avery Bursick, a senior on the Fox Chapel wrestling team, has been a starter since his freshman year.

He wrestles at 145 pounds and finished third at the Meadville tournament two weeks ago. He is leading the Foxes in wins with 15. He is not sure if he will be wrestling in college, but wants to major in physical therapy.

Here’s a closer look at this week’s spotlight athlete:

If you could go somewhere you’ve never been, where would you go?

Probably Hawaii. There is such beautiful scenery there and I like to explore.

What are your strong points as a wrestler?

I am best on my feet in a neutral position.

Do you have any pre-match rituals?

I like to have my dad in my corner.

What TV show makes you want to change the channel?

Any of the reality shows.

What movie could you watch over and over?

“Step Brothers.”

Should the Steelers trade Antonio Brown?

I love Antonio Brown, but if he continues to be a problem, they should trade him.

What is your favorite vacation destination?

We go to Lake Erie every summer, and it’s great up there.

Who is your favorite Pittsburgh athlete?

JuJu Smith Schuster.

What do you like on your pizza?

I like a meat lover’s pizza.

Who would you like to see disappear from public view?

Any of the Kardashians.

What would make up your favorite all-time meal?

I like steak. Just give me a steak with vegetables and a dessert.

What is your favorite TV show?

“The Office.”

What junk food do you have a weakness for?

Ice cream.
