Four weeks remain in the WPIAL boys volleyball regular season, and section races, with their battles for playoff positioning, are heating up.
The Western Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association released its latest rankings Monday based on a vote of all 39 WPIAL coaches.
Changes in Class AAA come in the middle portion of the top 10 where Hempfield moves up two spots to No. 5, while Seneca Valley and Norwin dip to No. 6 and No. 7, respectively.
The rest holds true with North Allegheny at No. 1, Bethel Park at No. 2, Shaler at No. 3, and Latrobe at No. 4.
Penn-Trafford holds the No. 8 spot again this week, while Pine-Richland is No. 9, and Armstrong is No. 10.
Butler and Peters Township also received votes.
In Class AA, the only change saw Obama Academy and Bishop Canevin switch places and now are No. 6 and No. 7, respectively, in the poll.
Derry remains at No. 1, followed by Seton LaSalle, Ambridge, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart and Beaver County Christian.
North Catholic maintains its position at No. 8, as does Thomas Jefferson and No. 9 and Deer Lakes at No. 10.
Earning WPAVCA Players of the Week honors for Class AAA are Canon-McMillan senior setter Aiden Kelly, North Allegheny senior setter Sava Topich and Seneca Valley senior outside hitter Luke Treziack.
The players recognized in Class AA are Thomas Jefferson senior outside hitter Alex Territ, Ambridge junior outside hitter Liam Buck and Seton LaSalle junior outside hitter Alex Shaughnessy.
